TV...

I have watched some TV-shows during the last days and I want to share them with you, they have been pretty good.

First of all: New Girl. It's about Jess who moves into a flat with three guys after her boyfriend cheated on her. First they aren't very happy to have her there but after telling them that all her girlfriends are models she's allowed to move in. She's in a really bad mood, watching Dirty Dancing about five times each day, crying all the time but then they are starting to like her. And everybody will understand, she's just adorable, a bit crazy, makes up theme songs for herself and stuff all the time. It was only the first episode but I can't wait to see what's happening next.

Then: 2 Broke Girls. Max is a waitress in a diner in Brooklyn, she really needs but hates the job and shows everyone. When a new waitress, Caroline, is starting to work there she can't imagine her working there and makes fun of her all the time. All she's really crazy about is her (very hot) boyfriend.
Caroline used to be rich but has lost everything and needs to work now for the first time of her life. Curcumstances bring her to Brooklyn where she starts working at the diner. She doesn't seem to be very smart but kind of lovable and after a bad start the two girls seem to become friends. They have the idea to open a cupcake shop and decide to raise $250 000. This was also just the pilot but we'll see what's going to happen.

I also watched Mike&Molly, it's a show that started last year, the 2nd season is going to start in a few days. It's a funny show about Mike who's working as a policeman in Chicago and tries to lose a bit of weight. At "Overeaters Anonymous" he meets Molly (the adorable Melissa McCarthy, known from Gilmore Girls), who is a school teacher and has been overweight since her childhood. She lives with her mother who doesn't have any weight problems at all and isn't a big help for Molly's diet, and her sister who likes to party and smoke marijuana.
Molly likes Mike when she first sees him at the OA-meeting but it takes him a while to finally take her out. When Molly feels sick on the day of the date you can see this isn't going to go so well...
Mike&Molly is a funny show which is definately worth watching. Both, Melissa McCarthy and Billy Gardell are very funny and so is Molly's Mom. Her sister just fits in because she's the opposite of Molly and maybe I should also mention Mike's partner who gives a lot of dating tips but isn't as succesfull himself, he still lives with his grandmother. Most of the time they talk about women at a diner, Mike is always trying to stay on his diet but Samuel, the african waiter, doesn't make that easy...

That's all about the new shows I've been watching but another thing I have to mention is Ashton Kutcher in Two and a half men. I didn't know what to think when I first heard that Charlie Sheen wouldn't be on the show any longer and Ashton Kutcher will be the new star in it. But now after a lot of gossip and stuff I watched the first episode I think it is really good. Ashton aka Walden Schmidt is pretty funny and I'm excided to see what will happen...

Oh, and for all How I met your mother- Fans: I want to know who's getting married!!! Please tell me it's Robin!

Lovelybooks & allfreecrochet-givaway

I should really post something about lovelybooks today. It's a nice web page about books. You can create your own bookshelf with all the books you have read and want to read in the future. You can talk with others about your favourite books, authors and everything you love about reading. As I have been into books ever since I was able to read (and even before that) it's really a nice page for me and I spend a lot of time there. Every week they have nice givaways and stuff and very often they are looking for test readers of new books. All you have to do is sign in, leave comments about a specific subject and then, if you are lucky you get a free book and can talk to others while reading. I have been so lucky and won three books during the last days and now I'm just waiting for them to arrive. I'm all excited!
The next big event they're hosting is a 24-hour reading-marathon. It starts on October 2nd at 9am and ends at the same time October 3rd (it's a public holiday in Germany). I have to work on Sunday but I'm off Monday and I hope to join in and also blog about my experience and the books I have read...
I'll also blog about the books I've won when they are here.
That's all, I just wanted to tell you about it, one of my favourite pages on the internet (maybe I should do that more often, about my favourite blogs and all...).

Jenny xoxo

PS: Have a look at the nice givaway at http://www.allfreecrochet.com/sweeps/Granny-Square-Love-Book-Giveaway#contestTop . I hope I'll win this book, I NEED some new inspiration!

Holidays at home

Oh my, time is running, probably because I don't want it to. I'm still off work for one more week and I spent the last two weeks at my parents'. It has been great. I caught up with all the people I haven't seen in a while, went to some nice places and just had a good time. I'm pretty relaxed now, that's just what a holiday should look like, right? Unfortunately I didn 't get away really because I decided to save money for bigger travel plans next year and at first I was a bit sad but now I think it was the right decision. It was nice just to spend some time with the family and long missed friends. One of them had a baby six weeks ago and I was really glad to see her after a long time now and to meet the new baby girl.
I wasn't really productive while I was at home but it felt good just to relax and not having anything to do. I read a few books and really had some nice days. I went to Europa Park, I went swimming, I went to have a nice afternoon at the lake...
You see, I'm pretty happy. Yesterday I drove back to Cologne and I'm also glad to be back here now having another week off. Today I slept in, had a nice late breakfast, went for a run (after which I thought I have to die, I should just workout more...) and now I'll probably have just a nice evening at home. In the next days I hope to see some of the Cologne friends and enjoy the last days of my holidays.
That's it, nothing special but all really good ;-)

Lots of ideas

I've had a few days off now and started a new project. It's a crocheted bag made out of "granny squares". So far it looks like that:

That's the yarn I'm using:

It's very pretty. I bought it in a tiny shop close to where I live. I usually love to buy stuff on the internet but that shop is very nice. The old lady working there is so nice and it's all very cute, the whole shop is full of her handmade clothes, scarfs, blankets and all. When there's no customer she's sitting by the window, knitting socks. And she's giving her advice to everyone, like this lady who was there with me, she was interested in how to knit a children's jumper so she drew it on a piece of paper showing her how to do it and telling her she could call if she needs help. I really liked all that although it's corny maybe.
Also I have planned some other things: A bag made out of an old pillowcase (it's still very good, it's just ripped on the side), a boardgame all handmade, more decorations for the flat... And I'm going to take an online sewing course (I hope to start it during my holidays). It's the best because I won't depend on dates and  can just work whenever I have time and want to do it. It's a very nice course, with lots of small and easy projects so I hope to learn a lot. I'll show ye the pictures, of course whenever I have finished something. Now all I need is a sewing machine :-D

I still haven't fixed my holiday plans, I just can't decide what to do. In Ireland there are all the people I like and I could visit everyone and see the kids and all. But I would also like a relaxing holiday at the beach. But I might have to go on my own so I really don't know...

That's all for now, I think, if anyone has a sewing machine or knows somebody who has and doesn't need one, leave a comment. Also, if you have any holiday advice or anything else ;-)

Stop to live in the future...

I've been thinking a lot lately about where I am going. There are so many things I want to do and so many places I want to go that I'm not even sure if I can fit everything into my life. I have to confess this makes me a little unhappy, I keep thinking that I'm going to miss something if I start doing something else. Anna, my Irish hostmum sent me a nice e-mail a few days ago putting me straight and now I have decided to slow down a little, just enjoying what I'm doing right now. She's so right. Right now, I really love my job and I want to keep doing it. Maybe next year or the year after or in ten years I won't like it anymore but that doesn't matter right now. So I really hope to live a little more like that from now on. The only thing is that I want to start doing something that challenges me like a community college course or something like that. Something creative, that's for sure because there are so many ideas in my head at the moment, just need to learn some new techniques to bring them out...

Another try

I tried to make a post with my new phone yesterday. Didn't work, so yet another try, real post is coming up soon...

Tuesday, July 26, 2011

Hi everyone!

Dear, I haven't been very productive since last week, I was just working a lot. I had a lot of ideas though. I have to get myself a sewing machine, because I have a nice idea for a bag and some other things. A while ago I already made a nice little bag and I wanted to do some more but I did that with my Mum's machine and that is still at home ;-)

I got some good news from a friend I met in Ireland. She's from Brazil and I haven't seen her in ages but now she's probably coming back to Ireland, that would be so great!

Unfortunately my holiday plans are still not fixed. A friend of mine who had thought about coming to Spain with me can't come now and I don't know if I can afford it on my own as I wanted to go by car. Now I'm thinking about going to Ireland instead. I don't know... But what's good is I might go to Paris for a weekend in October with two friends who are living in Cork, that would be great. I have never been there and I miss the two of them a lot.

Well, I'll keep you updated and I hope to be able to show you pictures of the bag and all soon.
